Jimmy Garoppolo, Raiders agree to 3-year deal

HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has agreed to a three-year, $67.5 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Monday.

The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the deal can’t be announced until Wednesday.

Garoppolo’s contract includes $34 million in the guaranteed money, the person said.

Garoppolo played for the San Francisco 49ers the past six seasons. He took the Niners to the Super Bowl in the 2019 season.

Before that, he played for the New England Patriots for three years under then-offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, now the Raiders’ head coach.

Well, at least he's a winner. We traded in Carr's losing record for Jimmy's 40-17 record. And as much as Jimmy has been a game manager so far in his career, he has had 4000-yd seasons, so he's capable. The 9ers just didn't really ask it of him, or he was injured or both.

But yeah, we're going to need a real backup QB. Bridgewater or Minshew or someone like that who can win better than half the games they'll need to play.

The real question is who we'll draft? Levis in rd 1? Hooker in rd 2? Be VERY interesting to see.

I see Deshaun Watson in Hendon Hooker. TEN was a juggernaut with him at the helm last season. I would take him over Levis all day long, as long as that knee looks ok. Sit him behind Jimmy year 1, fine-tune his throwing mechanics, work on reading defenses, put in a couple special packages for him, let him rock n roll year 2.
