My plan moving into next year

Postby piratepride » Sat Jan 09, 2021 10:49 am

We all knew and agreed on a few things last year. It was playoffs or bust for this team and especially true for Derek Carr. Then all hell broke loose with the pandemic, limited training camp, multiple absences due to covid. I keep hearing reports that Carr's job is safe this year once again. To me, this is the single most biggest question mark we have moving forward, do we keep Carr or make a trade / draft for someone better ? Let's just say right now we sign or trade for either Aaron Rodgers or even Deshaun Watson. Will our defense as is be enough for either of those two names? My guess is maybe it'll get us another two or 3 wins, that's it! Our defense needs to add several big time names at a few key spots in order to consistently complete. Here's my " way to soon" plan moving forward.

1.Keep Carr- at this point the offense was good enough ( top 8) to win, and it seemed like we finally closed the gap on KC, I wouldn't want the NEW QB to have to learn chuckies playbook, It took Carr 3 years to master, and he's done just that.

Cap space heading into free agency- We're currently 7 or 8 million over the cap, and supposedly this year it may stay the same or even go lower due to the Covid pandemic. But realistically this isn't that big of a deal considering the players we can potentially cut freeing up roughly 38 million or so.

Players to cut-
Maliek Collins
Mariota
Witten
Incognito
Erik Harris
Tyrell Williams
Joyner

Re sign Nelson Agholar !!!!!

Free agency players to get-
Justin Simmons S from Denver. Mayock wanted him last season until Denver placed the franchise tag on him. His play this year on a bad team earned him pro bowl honors, we need to lock him up as he's only 27 years old!

Matt Judon DE Ravens- He'll be 29 years old, had 21 pressures along with 6 sacks just behind league leaders TJ Watt / Joey Bosa. He's what we need to create pressure for our new defensive coordinator. You can either move Ferrell on the inside or rotate with Crosby, having depth isn't a bad thing. We can't afford to go into next year and not upgrade the DE spot. I don't care if we have to overpay here, we need a top notch rusher or will be in the same boat year in and year out.

Shaq Barrett- If we don't land Judon, Shaq Barrett is the next big name, he's only 28 and has produced big time the last 3 years with big time numbers. He was franchise tagged in 2019 and had 8 sacks this year. We absolutely need one of these guys IMO, and he was a force on a great Buccaneer defense.

Draft- If Mayock is able to come away with a DE in free agency, it'll help us turn our attention to the next big thing...LB. I thought our troubles were over when we signed two big names in Littleton /Kwiatkowski, but it turned out that wasn't the case. Corey mentioned thinking too much out on the field, and not having enough time together with the team as the number one reason he was playing like a chicken with his head cut off. He said he's moving to Vegas this year in an attempt to hang around the facility more and rebound. Why not get a young foundational piece in Notre Dame's LB Koramoah ? I wanted Patrick Queen so bad last year but that never happened. Pay attention to the defenses playing this weekend, most have playmaking LB's shutting down the middle of the field. I'd love to have 3 next season.

Alternate pick at #17 would be another CB- Patrick Surtain. He's the best if not second corner in this entire draft. Most of the mocks have him in the top 12-15 range due to team needs in the top 10. If we cut Joyner and his 14 million price tag, we can move Arnette to the slot, or give Gus Bradley 3 good corners to play his cover 3 defense with. Mullen, Surtain-Arnette sounds good to me.

Free agent wish list but doubtful- Lavonte David LB- This guy is everything I love at this spot, he's so good year in and year out it's crazy. He'll be 31 but showing no signs of slowing down. If we hget him, we won't need to go LB in the draft.
Leonard Williams DT- This guys has been a force this year and is a free agent, He'll probably command top dollar, but he is a Raiders fan and clamored for us to take him during his draft year so maybe he gives us a hometown discount?

Re-sign Nelson Agholar and Morrow.

That's it lol!

I tend to agree with you on the stuff I understand...lol.

Carr.................. I know you are probably right, but I'm just tired of him. The man ist NOT a leader... or a winner.

Silver. I hear ya, if the Raiders moved away from Carr I wouldn't be too pissed as I'm tired of years of losing. I also remember all the shitty QB's we had before him and Don't want to repeat. The only other guy I think would be Aaron Rodgers.
Long off season ahead, plenty of rumors to be heard.

I was also thinking of some possible surprise names to be traded. The Saints' WR Michael Thomas is one of them, he isn't happy in NO, and Brees' time may be over if CHI wins.
I'd give up the #17 pick for him today, and sign defense during FA.

Pirate’s right, a rookie QB would be completely fucking lost in Gruden’s system. And we all know Gruden wouldn’t change his shit to match his players. That’s what truly great coaches do, and Gruden is not a truly great coach.

It’s going to have to be Carr again. We’re going to have to hope that a real offseason w Ruggs and Edwards will get them all on the same page.

I’m just starting to dig into the draft, haven’t even glanced at FAs. I’ll have some ideas soon.

I think assuming a regular off season is putting the cart before the horse. This country is fucked. The Left will have is on lockdowns and wearing face masks for as long as they run the country. Nothing will be any different than it was this year. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see anything changing under "Leftist Socialist/Communist" rule.

Sorry to take this in that direction.........I should have had another cup of coffee...lol.

Silver, again...I agree. What a shit show this country is going to be now. Total fucking hypocrisy from the left over destruction of property and protests.
I'm hoping the NFL takes what's happening to the browns right now and has a solid plan next year.
