The Las Vegas Raiders got a scare in their Week 1 victory over the New England Patriots, as standout rookie tight end Brock Bowers exited in the fourth quarter with what appeared to be a knee injury.
Bowers was tackled after a catch and showed immediate discomfort on the following play, forcing him to limp off the field. He was quickly taken into the Raiders’ medical tent for evaluation, leaving fans concerned about his status.
Before leaving the game, Bowers was putting together a statement performance. The rookie tight end led the Raiders offense with five receptions for 103 yards, including a highlight 38-yard gain in the third quarter. His ability to stretch the field and create mismatches has already made him one of the most important pieces in the Silver and Black’s attack.
An extended absence for Bowers would be a major blow to the Las Vegas Raiders offense, but there was good news after the game. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Bowers said he’s confident the knee issue will not be a lingering problem moving forward.
“I’ll be fine,” Bowers told Pelissero, giving Raider Nation a much-needed sigh of relief.
The Raiders injury report this week will provide more clarity, but the early signs point to Bowers avoiding anything serious. His progress in practice will be worth monitoring as the team prepares for Week 2.
For now, Raider Nation can take comfort in knowing their rising star tight end expects to be back on the field soon.
