Washington Huskies In The NFL: Marcel Reece

Season Grade: A

After playing wide receiver at Washington, Reece went undrafted in 2008 and eventually signed with the Dolphins, however he didn’t get on the field until the Raiders picked him up and converted him into a fullback. He has now been their starting fullback for three seasons and was selected to his first Pro Bowl this season.

Reece is arguably the most involved fullback in any offense in the NFL. He led all fullbacks in rushing attempts (59) and yards (271) this season. He also logged 52 receptions for 496 yards out of the backfield. Darren Sproles, Ray Rice and Jacquizz Rodgers were the only running backs to catch more passes this season.

Despite having a breakout season in 2012, it will be difficult for Reece to maintain the rushing numbers he is putting up if Darren McFadden stays healthy. McFadden missed four games, allowing Reece to be the primary ball carrier for Oakland. When Reece hits the free agent market, he could be looked at as a halfback by teams looking for a strong back to go with their speed back.

You don't adjust, you just dominate.
