I was reading this NFL.com article about the greatest trades of players in their prime and Mike Haynes was in there and yeah, he was a fuckin great player for us but Lester fucking Hayes man, that dude was a damn beast!

Haynes is in the Hall, as he should be. 46 career INTs, helped us win the SB in '83, 9x pro bowls, 2x all-pros and a Liombardi in 14 seasons. Yeah, he was a fuckin stud.

But IMO Hayes was every fuckin bit as dangerous, if not more so. He was a 5x pro bowler and 1x all-pro and had 39 INTs and 2x Lombardis, but he did it all in just 10 seasons.

Both of these fuckin guys were going to make you pay for throwing at them, that's all there was to it. The BEST CB tandem EVER in the game of football. Hayes/Willie Brown in '77 and '78 was a phenomenal duo as well, but Willie was just a little too slow at that point and Hayes hadn't quite come into his own.

From '83 - '86, good luck throwing against The Raiders. Our D was #4, #3, #4 and #3.

Haynes = .291 INTs per start.

Hayes = .291 INTs per start.

I guess the problem here is that Hayes was always a Raider ad at least people could say Haynes was a Patriot for the first half of his career. Hell, Stabler had to DIE to make the Hall, so maybe Hayes will get a shot at it after he's worm food.

Because he's a Raider, an ugly black one with a stuttering problem where people thought he was dumb and he wore stickem, that's why. Fact is he was the best cover corner of his era and probably one of all time. Why isn't Cliff Branch in the Hall? Todd Christensen, Dave Dalby. Why did it take for Stabler to die to be put in the hall and Ray guy was an old man when he was enshrined. NFL establishment has always had a deep seated hatred for AlDavis and the Raider brand as opposed to their love for Art Rooney, the Mara family and a few others. This league has never done our franchise any favors going back to the merger in 1970.

Yeah, I'll tell you this shit: If Kellen Winslow is in the Hall, Todd fuckin Christensen should be in the Hall.

Very similar careers. Both drafted in 79, Winslow in the 1st, Todd in the 2nd.

In our SB year in 1983 Todd was the heart and soul of the offense - 92 catches for 1247 yards and 12 TDs. Branch was the closest guy to him and he only had 696 fucking yards. Without Todd, we wouldn't even have won our fucking division that year, much less the Super Bowl! We went 12-4 because of Todd and Marcus Allen and our fuckin ferocious defense led by Howie. Everyone else was just along for the ride.

Not to mention Todd had the greatest hands I've ever seen. Fuck Winslow, forget about every other legendary receiver everyone loves to talk about, Todd Christensen was MADE of fly paper. It was weird, like he was incapable of dropping a ball.

That's a guy you put in the fucking HOF OVER a fucker like Winslow. The Lombardis, the CLUTCH play, the golden hands, the way he picked the team up on his back and carried it to the SB... That's what makes a HOFer. Winslow could compare to Todd in only one of those categories, because he was clutch. He had great hands but again, nobody was in Todd's league.

And NOBODY EVER talks about Todd Christensen. EVER. You hear Winslow's name quite a bit. People talk about him in reverential tones, as if he was the greatest of his time. NOBODY mentions Todd, not ever.

FUCK that.

I was just looking at our 1983 season.

In the 1983 season, in the postseason alone - 3 games, against PIT, SEA and WAS (SB), we had 8 INTs and 15 fuckin sacks. In the SB, we sacked Theisman 6 times and it was never the same guy twice.

Last season, all seasons long, we had 14 INTs and 13 sacks.

Yeah, we're a little bit off our prime, I'd say...

Yeah miss that 1983 Raider team. We should of gone to the Super bowl in 82' as well and 85'. Wishful thinking it was nice winning in 80' and 83' but in my mind we were the best team pound for pound in the AFC from 80' to 86'.

You know why..... Raiders. EVERYONE hates the Raiders. The NFL, the other owners, the media, all other fans of other teams. It's why we are Raiders fans. We march to the beat of a different drum.

Fuck all of them. The Raider will rise to prominence again...... and the hate will be welcome!

Hence, we leading the league or top 5 in penalties for decades and decades. Best way to fuck a franchise and ruin their legacy and brand is to fuck em on the playing field through bullshit officiating and losing. Make us inconsequential by Halloween every year aside from the talent or lack of on our rosters. Some of our 4-12 and 5-11 seasons could have been a more respectable 8-8 if it wasn't for that bias. Seen too many tight games over the years where the flags came out on us in crucial spots or no flags on our opponent to sustain their drives and or scoring opportunities. It's all fuckin bullshit.

Long time ago we were good for a couple seasons in a row. 2000 to 2002, 90' to 93' we were alright to pretty good and mid 60's to mid 80's was our glory decades or part of three decades. Last time we made the playoffs back to back years aside from 01' and 02' was 90' and 91' and the last time aside from '01 and 02' that we won a playoff game at least in consecutive years was '82 and '83 seasons. Long motherfuckin time ago. Vegas better be our decade 2020 and so forth.
