Donald Penn agrees to a restructured contract

Looks like he's agreed to a restructured contract and should be in the fold soon. He's been working on the side along with Eddie Vanderdoes the last few weeks.
Most of us on here have been pissed at him since that Redskins game, but profootballtalk has him ranked as our highest graded lineman in 2017.
If he comes back soon ready to roll, this strengthens our line even more and gives Kolton some veteran leadership.
I think we'll cut him next year to save $$$, but at least we'll get his best one more season.

As I was typing this up, I completely forgot we still have Vanderdoes working with trainers.
He was pushed into starting too fast, but was streaky occasionally.
IMO he gets demoted to 3rd or 4th string now, especially while he heals up, but can you imagine him on a goal line stand along with all of our big dogs?

Go run heavy with 4 of our run stuffers and send the house....

Mack -Vanderdoes - Jelly- Mario Williams

We restructured his contract for what? To have money to pay Mack and have that flexibilty? Conley is ready to practice I heard. If we have Mack and Conley for 16 games this year coupled with the young talent on the defensive line and Arden Key as well as Guenther calling the defense. This defense could be pretty solid at some point this year. Chips would have to fall our way but we've needed a formidable defense for a long time now.

I'm not sure the restructuring is quite enough to scratch the surface of Mack money...but who knows.
I heard today that Penn was working in at RT.
I didn't see this coming at all, but I'm all for the best 5 starting at once. Penn at 90% is better than all of the other right tackles we have. It's crazy to think how many teams right tackles are simply trash across the league. Its gotta be one of the lowest playing positions across the board period. Can any of you name another top RT without using google?

Giacomini I think was for depth and an emergency starter. He might be cut anyway.

Penn is still an above-average starter. The man is nothing special and i fully expect to see Miller surpass him at some point. Might take a couple years.

Vanderdoes is a sack of ass-clippings. a fucking worthless waste of space with no place on this roster given our draft picks and the newfound versatility of Mr. Edwards Jr. Goodbye, fucktard.

Edwards jr and Vanderdoes were Reggie specials amongst others. The man should never pick a draft again. Rooney rule run amok
