Brian Cushing set to visit Raiders

"The Raiders signed Derrick Johnson this week and they added Tahir Whitehead and Emmanuel Lamur earlier in the offseason, but they may not be done adding veteran linebackers to their roster.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that former Texans linebacker Brian Cushing is set to visit with the team on Sunday. It’s the first report of a visit for Cushing since he met with the Seahawks in early March.

Cushing was released by the Texans in February and played just five games for the Texans last season after serving a 10-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. The suspension was the second of Cushing’s NFL career and he’s also dealt with a variety of injuries since being drafted with the 15th overall pick of the 2009 draft.

When Cushing has been on the field in recent seasons, he hasn’t looked like a player with too much left in the tank. Given Jon Gruden’s desire to take the game back to 1998, the Raiders may be hoping that hopping in the time machine will remedy that."

Guess Novarro Bowman isn't satisfied with our offer sheet or never got one. He's a proven commodity and a need and Reggie must've jewed him or something.

I'm starting to think Reggie doesn't have shit to do with anything right now. This whole thing is $100,000,000 Gruden. I hope he knows what he's doing.

Keep in mind that NOBODY has signed Bowman for what he’s asking. Everyone knows he has plenty left, he must be askin for young man’s money.

All we’re doing w Cushing and Johnson - two guys who would be a COMPLETE waste of money - is acting like we have options when we don’t.

Both sides are going to have to come off their numbers a little bit at some point.

Gruden may not know defense but Bowman filled a major need latter part of last year. Reggie probably jewed him on guaranteed money or amount of years of the contract. Bowman was probably like thats how lil you think of me and my worth to the defense. Bye bye brah

With Derrick Johnson in the fold, I doubt we throw money Bowman's way, but if we did that would be a solid trio IMO for at least this year. All of us were on here griping last year at how stupid Reggie was for going with 3 green linebackers and Cory James from the 5th round? What else was Gruden supposed to do after Rowuan got snatched up by the Bears? Draft Rashan Evans? We need going talent , but that would have been a massive reach at 15. What else was Gruden going to do, throw crazy money at Bowman?

Bowman and his agent are waiting it out until maybe somebody in a panic move gives him the guaranteed money he has in mind. Its all about the guarantee in the contract anyway. He should of been a priority this offseason but Reggie is a cheap niggger as we know with some negotiations.

Bowman knows this, too. This will get more interesting if no one else signs him.
