No doubt about that. I see it being better than ‘16.

I’m curious to see if Gruden will stick to his “get a 3-point lead and milk it for 2 quarters” MO, or if he has developed a killer instinct.

Question is how many wins this offense will translate to, given what’s sure to be the worst Raiders D in quite some time.

JMO!! I believe our D's will be better/top 15, 2018. if nothing else better coaching then we had since 17 or 18 years

Paul Guenther is a much better D coordinator than Norton jr ever dreamed of. Norton jr on his own made the D worse than in actuality because he was a fuckin novice. Guenther will have this defense respectable at some point this season and we'll have a lil more optimism than the deficiencies Norton jr brought for 3 yrs basically ruining the defense singlehandedly.

That’s true, but Guenther had some pretty serious talent to work w in CIN.

We’ll see.

And he came to Oakland to work with Gruden and left a nice spot in Cincy. I don't think he came here because its an unsalvageable defense in his mind. That would be stupid. Three years of Norton jrs fuck ups and it could only get better with this guy.

There's no doubt Guenther is well beyond Norton. I'm not arguing that.

There's also no doubt Atkins is well beyond Vanderdoes, Peko is beyond Ellis, Burfict is beyond... uh.. whoever... Their CBs were all first-rounders... You get the picture.

So can he do the same kind of thing w inferior talent? We'll see.

Maybe the whole discussion was around coming here to "build" the badass defense as opposed to needing to win now with what we have. Who knows?

But hey... At least he gets to work w Reggie Nelson again! YAY!!
