Would Colin Kaepernick Be A Good Fit For The Raiders?

The Oakland Raiders could use a better backup quarterback, but is Colin Kaepernick a good fit?
As last offseason and the 2017 regular season went on and other quarterbacks were signed, Colin Kaepernick constantly came up. He went through the season without being picked up, and there’s real doubt he’ll ever be on an NFL roster again.

But with a new offseason on the horizon, any controversy Kaepernick would come with will be further in the rearview mirror. It’s worth wondering if there are 64 better quarterbacks than him in the league, as 32 teams go two-deep, and Kaepernick may get a chance to at least compete for a roster spot heading into next season.

On that note, Scott Ostler of the San Francisco Chronicle has suggested the Oakland Raiders as a good fit for Kaepernick. With Jon Gruden back, a head coach that surely thinks he can develop quarterbacks of all styles is now in place in Oakland. Gruden’s stance on the national anthem protests Kaepernick started is not really known, but it’s safe to say anyone who can help the team would be welcomed with open arms.

Derek Carr’s injury toward the end of the 2016 regular season turned the Raiders from a potential threat to the Patriots in the AFC into a Wild Card Round loser with rookie Connor Cook making his first NFL start. Heading into the 2018 offseason, pending free agent E.J. Manuel and Cook are on the depth chart behind Carr.

Kaepernick’s football shape will be a question until he is signed and shows up on a practice field. When we last saw him he wasn’t too bad for the San Francisco 49ers in 2016, completing over 59 percent of his passes with a 16:4 touchdown-to-interception ratio while running for 468 yards in 11 starts. There’s a place somewhere for him in the league, and Oakland with Gruden looks like as good a fit as any as Kaepernick’s name starts to resurface.

You don't adjust, you just dominate.

Gruden needs to be falling down drunk on whiskey before this happens.

It would completely ruin the team. I hope it does not happen.

Yeah... Gruden loves distractions. Probably would have had Duece fuck up that reality show crew Lynch had following him . I don’t see Krapernick on the squad. Massive cancer purge on the way. JDR let the inmates run the asylum. Nice hair Jack, but you suck balls after you though 12-4 was automatic.

But how do you really feel about it? You’re kinda holding back.
