Raiders reportedly interested in Kellen Winslow

We all know that Kellen Winslow Jr. is a soldier, but could he also be a Raider?

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Oakland has expressed interest in the tight end, who was given an honorable discharge from the Patriots after catching one pass in one game for them during the 2012 season. According to Rapoport, Winslow is “finally healthy” and wants to continue his career after basically sitting out last year.

The Raiders just lost Brandon Myers to the Giants, which means they are in the market for a tight end. They don’t have much money to spend, but it is hard to imagine Winslow demanding much money at this point in his career. The condition of his knees has been an issue for years and no team is going to pay much more than the minimum on the off chance that this is the year Winslow is able to remain healthy.

For a low-risk signing, though, the Raiders could do worse. After all, it never hurts to have a soldier on your side.

I'd sign him for a "Vet Minimum" pay only. He's got to prove that he can still play and that knee of his is actually all healed up. He's in no position to demand a lot of money. Let's see how he does for 2013 and then they all can talk about his worth.

Winslow's broken. Just like Pat Sims and Jason Hunter, only older.

I don't understand why we'd let our TE, who was our LEADING RECEIVER and by far Palmer's favorite target, and posted the best single season for OAK at TE since Christensen, walk for very little money and then try to sign this bum. It's motherfucking ridiculous. People, that reads like part of a conspiracy to kill this organization altogether.

We also cut our 3rd leading receiver. So of the top 3 receivers from last year we have one left, Moore. Can anyone tell me how that production will be replaced, let alone improved upon? Are we banking on Criner, Streater and Ausberry stepping up? Those guys are NFL infants, every fucking one of them.

More evidence that the 2013 season has been written off by management.
