I wouldn't shit on Manziel, the kid is fucking prolific in a downright nasty conference. And he's clutch.

I keep reading about how his game will not translate well into the NFL, but I cannot help but be impressed by what he has done.

Just read the Texans owner has no problem trading the #1 draft pick. Wonder if RM is thinking of trading up? Raiders at #5, who is available besides Manziel, Bridgwater and Clowney. Maybe package McFadden in a deal or something. In my mind this is the new beginning for this franchise after 11 seasons of mostly futility.

Don’t assume that the Houston Texans will still have the first overall pick in the NFL draft when Roger Goodell steps to the podium on May 8.

That’s the word from Texans owner Bob McNair, who suggested today that his team might be able to trade down from the first overall pick and still end up drafting a franchise quarterback, while also using extra picks to bolster the defense.

“Maybe we’ll trade down and still get a quarterback that can do the job and get an outstanding defensive player,” McNair said, via ESPN.com. “It’s an exciting time. Everything’s a moving target. Lot of different pieces.”

McNair noted that his team has had the first overall pick twice before. In 2002, the Texans chose quarterback David Carr. In 2006, the Texans chose defensive end Mario Williams. Carr was Houston’s starter for five years but didn’t play well and is out of the league now, while Williams has developed into a very good pass rusher. McNair noted that Williams has been a better player than Carr, but also said that doesn’t mean much for what the Texans should do in 2014.

“The defensive player worked out better than the offensive player,” McNair said. “That won’t lock us into anything.”

If the Texans decide to go with a quarterback first overall, the names most frequently mentioned are Louisville’s Teddy Bridgewater, Central Florida’s Blake Bortles and Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel. If the Texans could acquire more picks by moving down in a trade and still end up with one of those quarterbacks, that wouldn’t be a bad draft deal at all.

So this! Draft a monster pass rusher, or trade down, and then pick up a QB. I still hold to the belief that there isn't a QB in this draft worthy of a top 5 pick.

It has already been reported that Manziel, and Evans for that matter, have decided to jump to the NFL while Bortles has stated that he is waiting for his draft grade - which will likely be high, so he is expected to be in. However, Hundley has been less willing to show his cards - he kept stating that he would not even consider the NFL until after his Bowl Game and then he would need to talk to those he trusts before making a decision.

C'mon man, it's widely expected that those guys will be in, while it was much less certain that Hundley would jump in. Indeed, it seems that Hundley will not jump in. So it made sense to include those guys, while not including Hundley and that decision, based on who would be in, had nothing to do with Hundley's ability on the field.
