The joke started the day Al sold Gruden to the Bucs and the next year he kicked our asses in the Super Bowl. The last ten years have been one continuous joke if you ask me. How to build a crappy sports franchise, poor drafts, fire coaches and coordinators every 5 minutes, bring in old retreads and pay them a kings ransom for them to half ass it every year and be a negative influence on the younger players. Yup that buys you about 4 wins in the NFL every fuckin year. Mark Davis better have somebody in his ear because RM isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Disagree; Gruden had his chance to stay, but chose not to - so instead of letting him just walk after one year, Davis decided to get something in exchange for Gruden. It sucked, but the decision made sense.

Also, why ignore the progress Jackson was making? For a brief moment, the Raiders were becoming relevant. Sadly, RM snuffed that out in exchange for this embarrassment.

The only problem with 2010 and 2011 is we couldn't win in December. We were 3-5 in that month those two years including going 1-5 over two seasons. yeah I liked being relevant again those seasons but there were Raider teams in the 80's and 90's that had problems winning in December especially away games and those teams were better than our 2010 and 2011 teams. RM should have kept Hue, Bush and Palmer and do all the other cuts he ended up doing and build with those guys aforementioned. All I have to say there are no excuse now with all this money available and no salary cap purgatory. We had our lost 10 year parts of a decade and it's time to get back to Raider football from the 60's to 2002 once again where we won 60% of our games.

AD drove Gruden out of Oakland. Gruden wanted to coach and win a SB as a Raider but AD wouldn't give him that satisfaction. Lets not forget before Gruden was sent packing, there were stories that AL was jealous because he felt Chucky was becoming the face of the franchise. Then the raiders go through 7 HC's since. that itself is ridiculous.

Does this actually make sense to you? Al Davis would rather lose than win with Gruden?! Wtf!

Gruden could have stayed - Davis called him before the trade, as you may recall. In the end, Gruden was leaving, so Davis tried to get something for him rather than nothing. Why Gruden was set on leaving is anyone's guess. However, I believe Gruden wanted more power over personnel decisions, something Davis would never surrender to any coach.

Maybe my theory is wrong, but the idea that Davis simply did not want to win with Gruden and so pushed him out because he was winning, is insane.
